The '24 looks technically superior to the '34, although the '34 seems to present better eye appeal. Neither obverse is fully-struck, making the determination between AU and MS much more difficult. So, I concentrate on the reverses. The '24 needs a better pic of the reverse to be sure, but from what I can see I'm going to call it uncirculated. 1924: MS64 1934: MS63 Both conservatively graded. I could see either in 65 slabs if they're uncirculated. Report this Post to the Staff

The toning is very pretty for a Peace dollar (especially the reverse) and I'm not surprised that you picked it up on a whim.......I really like it! Report this Post to the Staff
TLS5933 Pillar of the Community United States 1703 Posts	Posted 02/14/2007 09:12 am Peace dollars can be a bugger to grade because of weak strikes but I would give the 1924 an AU58.There's just some hair detail that I can't see that would make it MS. I think the 1934 is MS,probably MS63 in my opinion.Beautiful. Report this Post to the Staff
Tbar Valued Member United States 191 Posts	Posted 02/14/2007 10:09 am Interesting replies... Well...Hadley hit on it for the most part. The 24 was bought as a weak 65. This coin confuses me a little. This coin has a very nice reverse, really really clean fields, but really weak at the cheek and hair. I bought the coin mainly for the great red/gold/pink color...it has good luster and looks very nice in hand. (I will say..I would not be floored if this coin is AU58 with no bagmarks) The 34 is one I feel really good about. I shot the pics of this one with diffused light because it has too much luster. It has a few spots on the reverse....but I think this coin goes MS65 easily. I paid MS64 bid. Thanks for the opinions you guys... Report this Post to the Staff
