After reading about different coins that people are finding coin roll hunting I am thinking about starting to look though cents.

Now I know the basics, keep any wheat cents, steel cents, etc. I am also thinking about setting aside any copper cents that are in nice condition and any of the early zinc ones that may still be in good condition.

What about the CAM's and WAM's though? I read that the 1992 CAM is the holy grail of modern varieties. What else should I be on the look out for?

I haven't really got into cents yet so I there any page with this information.

Thanks.

The way I teach people to look is to learn what a normal coin is supposed to look like for any given date, then pull anything that doesn't look normal. Far and away, your value in memorial cents is going to be in doubled dies and repunched mintmarks. Spend some time learning what those are and what they look like and just dig in.

Using specific "lists" of what to look for are much harder to follow, learn, and memorize than learning the "normal" appearance of a coin and pulling the "different" stuff. This premise works in the banking world where instead of teaching tellers what to look for in counterfeit currency, they simply have the tellers handle a LOT of real currency so they will know the fakes when they run across them because they don't feel right.

Once you learn what a normal coin should look like when you run across one that looks "off" it will "stand out" and cause you to look at it some more for any errors or varieties. Here is a list of sites I have in my favorite list https://goccf.com/t/119631#1031398

Reference books are amazing for this purpose. Coppercoins himself wrote one, Looking Through Lincoln Cents, which lists some fantastic varieties. The Cherrypicker's Guide as well as Strike it Rich with Pocket Change would be a good start.
