Just wanted to mention I found this 1st edition, I enclosed it in an envelope for the part 1 of Mr Van Allen's newest listings of the wonders of Peace dollars, Sent the same to Mr Van Allen and He was ( as usual) Quite the Gentleman and signed the latest Listings, He also signed his 1965 1st edition of the Morgan and Peace dollar Varieties Book.

I am thrilled We have one of the Fathers of the hobby known as Vamming with us and He is a very special person at that. Thank you Leroy !!!!

the book he speaks of is the book before he paired up with George Mallis and wrote the VAM encyclopedia. It is very hard to find and allot of VAMmers are looking for the original 1965 book by LVA himself. I am glad you found one and I never had any doubt that LVA wouldn't sign the books if you had given him the chance

I have always found him to be a very approachable, Kind,Gentleman and appreciate people of knowledge taking the time to actually sign the book and The Wonders of Peace dollars 2012 255-PAGES BOOK Also, I just directly ordered!! I am a very happy camper and wanted to share another friendly encounter with one of the Legends of the "VAMS IN OUR LIVES"!!!! I really thought I was NOT going to locate the book, then there it was!!!!! Very special to me.......

Now you need to find the 1964 hard bound edition of "List of Die Varieties of Morgan Head Silver Dollars" by A.George Mallis. I have the Bruce G. Daniels copy, hand signed by the late Mr. Mallis in my VAM library.

SsuperDave - Sorry, didn't intend to raise the bar, just the awareness. Of course that would remand me to also mention the card cover 1963 edition of "Die Varieties of Morgan silver dollars" by Francis X. Klaes.

As for the moniker - you must be joking! Closest yet for me was a J-1550A. PCGS PR61.

Oh, that's all?

You know what's interesting? Of these true-to-design patterns, some had the Long Nock, some had the Short Nock, yet none had 8TF like the initial Morgan issue. They were all 7TF coins.
