Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to numismatics. Anyway, my grandpa collected a whole bunch of foreign coins and he gave them to me last year!
I organized everything and found I had coins from 20 countries, excluding my own, Canada. They are: P.R. of China, Hong Kong, Macau, North Korea, Japan, Thailand, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Germany(West and United), Czezh(Rep. and Czechoslovak), Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Soviet Union, Malaysia, Botswana, Luxembourg,USA.
This week, couple of my friends generously donated some coins of their home countries, including UAE, India and Sri Lanka.
I thought I might just share that with everyone!

Thanks to both! I liked what scoutjim99 said: "bridging the gaps in the world through numismatics." For the SOviet Union, I've got a BU set that has coins of 1 kopek to 1 ruble and what looks like a medallion from the Leningrad Mint. I thought that was pretty cool

Your well on your way to getting a "One from every Country" collection. 20 countries, if you go thru the foreign coin bin at a local coin shop you should be able to get a few more countries. The good thing is Foreign coins are often very cheap and have interesting designs and are full of history.

Went to a coin show today, I saw some foreign bins, but they were mainly very small denoms and since I still lack knowledge in this area, I didn't urge myself to buy anything. It is true that they're cheap. I'm mainly a Canadian/American collector.

Sports Writer, what year is the Soviet mint? There are some extreme rare years and some of them are going well over 600USD!

My Soviet set is actually pretty interesting. It was minted in 1989!! So I guess that was the last Soviet year ever? Is that considered a key date?

ALso, I've got 3 commemoratives from the Soviets. One was Lenin's 100th, Musurgsky's 150th and the 70th anniversary of the October Revolution.
