Hi ADMISLSE, Yep I went along for a looksie, as it was my first it was a bit of an eye opener. Man you could empty you back account so fast there.... Was a good arvo, meet a lot of people. The Perth Mint appeared to be pushing a 1oz 2012 Purple year of the Dragon coin. (If that is what you are asking). Was a tad expensive I thought give that is was just 1 ounce. Cheers Pete

Yes. I saw something interesting which I didn't realise existed too: a $1 note with serial Z? 100000* (I can't remember the letters).

Thanks Peter. Agree with you, $99 for 1oz silver Dragon, Expensive, anyway, no way for me to buy it. Save my money for other predecimal coins. Wish I were there.

The RAM released a $5 coin with an 'antique finish'. At $55 bucks each, no wonder they only minted 2000 of them.

Yes, I was there for most of both days, volunteering at the coin club display. Quote: Man you could empty you back account so fast there... It took me two days, buy yes, I can verify that.

Both RAM and Perth released unsold Brisbane ANDA coins on their websites respectively. Unlike last year, it took a few days before they put them on the sites and sold out really quickly. Besides, RAM ANDA $5 dollars is so lame from my point of view. and the Perth Mint just want to make more quick and easy money.

Quote: At $55 bucks each, no wonder they only minted 2000 of them. They were $45 at the show, not $55. I bought one as part of my "Queensland coins" collection and the design looks nice enough, but personally, I'd have liked to have seen it in silver; the oxidized al-bronze treatment they've given it doesn't really work for me. I was talking to one of the Mint reps; they said they'd melt down any that were unsold after 10 days. I don't know how many were leftover at show's end, but I'm assuming dealers will snaffle them all up before the deadline.

I get the impression that there were quite a few of us at the show, maybe we need a CCF hat or something so we can identify ourselves. It is nice to be able to put a face to a name.
(also CCF needs a grammar check as well as the spell checker. My posts are terrible.) Pete

My reason for going was to get the $1 Wheat Sheaf "B" Counterstamp coin. I also bought the 2nd Edition of Renniks Aust Pre-Decimal Coin Varieties bu Ian McConnelly.

The old Aussie coins forum had a pin that members could wear to recognise each other when they were at coin shows. Perhaps a similar thing could be done for members here?
