Its brutal, I live in Northern Va and things will take weeks to get to me. I wish I could just drive to their headquarters and pick up my orders 99 percent of the time

It really is a long lead time for delivery of these US Mint shipments. If I didn't have them delivered to my office, I'd be a whole lot more worried about them.
I wonder if any US Mint representatives read these kinds of forums to get feedback from their customers.

I haven't purchased the Chickasaw coin for the very reason that their cost / ounce is so high. Double the current spot is high. I'm sure that there are some mint employees who are members of certain forums but I would not expect them to come forward for fear that they would be berated for mint policies that they have no control over. But if I was a betting man I wouldn't bet against the probabllity that mint employees are coin collectors and as such are members of certain forums and that they bring back comments that have been posted. Besides they (the mint) does do sampling of opinions from current purchasers and if you read mintblog you will see that the mint is aware of collector opinion is. This is most likely the reason that they are minting to meet demand for the new silver eagles and "s" minted ATB Quarters. They really can't afford to many fiasco's as the 25th anniversay silver dollars. But like many businesses they have to have good service and make payments to government in the form of signorage. No I don't work for the mint nor the government in any way. I worked for a living.

I get that it takes time to fill all their orders, but they take that to the extreme. Even once the order is filled they use the slowest mail I've ever seen in my life, I didnt realize there was a 2-3 week shipping option available but apparently they found one. Really how hard would some priority mail flat rate packaging be? Quote: They really can't afford to many fiasco's as the 25th anniversay silver dollars I would have to respectfully disagree with this. Yes the ordering and the website issue they need to fix for sure but the low mintage and hard to get aspect I think was a huge positive for them. Nothing has brought more attention to the ASEs more than that set has in a long long time. Its still one of the most sought after products theyve made. Should every product be like that, no. But if they are going to do a special set, make it special. Theres nothing special about anyone who wants it can get it. IF thats how they are going to proceed with them lose the set idea and just run a reverse proof series so we dont have to pay bigger premiums for a display box worth nothing and possibly buy a double of some of the other ASEs depending on what else is included with it.

the mint won't drop their price on these based soley on the price of silver. last time they adjusted their price, silver was 29/oz. they actually posted somewhere (can't find the link, but I think it was their blog) that unless silver drops lower than 25/26oz then the prices will stay the same.

I've been collecting the pucks since day one. They've ALWAYS been severely overpriced, IMO. But yet I still buy them! I just hope my heirs appreciate the sacrifices I made for them!

I also have been purchasing these pucks since the start, but I've been stalling on purchasing the Chickasaw and will do the same for the El Yunque coin because I feel that their price is unrealistic. I really don't want to end the series where I have them now but the value for me is not there. After 9 pucks I can call it quits and easily walk away from them because at the current levels the rest of the series is so grossly overpriced that I just can't justify trying to get the rest of the series. The risk/reward probability just isn't there for me at this price level. At the current level I just can't see plunking down another $8,500 to complete the set plus there is the unknown of price increases that could raise that figure even higher. So I am on the sidelines waiting to see if I get back in or forget the series altogether.

Well, the series might not last that much longer beyond this year if sales do not pick up. Legally the Mint has to offer the bullion coin in the 5oz. size, but not necessarily the collector coin. The Mint can get Congress to amend the authorizing legislation if it becomes a waste of money if no one is buying the coins. The latest sales report has the latest design pegged at 5,600 bullion and 6,500 collector coins sold. Not a very encouraging number to continue the series, frankly, and it's a shame since these are simply outstanding designs of medallic art. The Mint's not gonna drop the price on this or any other silver coin unless Ag trips below $25 and stays there for 10 days or more, unfortunately.

Bizy,
Just wondering, Source for the report figures, and the under $25 for 10 days?
I'd just like to know where to get the info for future use.

Namachieli I know coinnews.net usually puts out sales reports.
This series is going to die a fast death and the mint has no one to blame but themselves. Why would anyone order the pucks right now with how long they take to arrive and the inane amount of new silver releases being jammed into a 10 day period after going weeks with nothing new

Quote: The problems with producing and striking this coin is the reason why Ed Moy quit the director's post last year The Director of the Mint is replaced with each new US President, so he knew he was going to be replaced. He left early, since he got a new job some where else. And this new director is doing a poor job. That's why the prices of the ATB Quarters took a huge jump in price last year. He is very greedy and looking at ways to make a big jump in profits for the Mint. That's why we see the new business strike quarters from SF.

I really don't mind the mint trying to make more money by offering more products but I don't like them raising the prices just to increase profits (and I do think the S mint circulation rolls are overpriced). I also don't think they need to make these new coins just yet. I don't understand why they don't offer cents, nickels, and dimes in rolls like the half dollars or in a circulating set like the quarters. Expanding the quarter circulating set, to me, would have been the best way to offer the S-mint versions and I think that that set should become a full circulating set like what we used to get prior to 2005 when the new "uncirculated" type was created. In the past few years it has become downright difficult to put together annual sets of circulation strike coins and I think if the mint would offer complete sets of these coins they would sell very well. Just pull the coins from the production bins like they used to do. There is currently no way to get circulation strike cents, nickels, or dimes from the mint and the half and full dollars are only available in rolls. I would like to see a 33 coin circulation strike set come out this year (with the 5 new S quarters in addition to the 14 coins each from D & P mints). Really cheap packaging like the circulation strike quarters use and a decent price so you wouldn't mind at all cutting them out and putting them into albums. Price it just like the quarter set, a buck a coin. You would get 33 coins (face value $15.07) for 33 bucks, not a bad deal for us or the mint, and you could start filling your albums with genuine mint state, circulation strike coins.

Quinn saying the new guy is doing a poor job is insulting to people that do poor jobs.
There has been less than 0 thought put into release schedules, future plans, maximizing profits, and basically anything you can really think of.
His ill just charge more than mentality is the fastest way to lower your overall sales numbers and eventually turn people off to the series entirely. In all honesty I've kind of lost interest in purchasing these. Dont get me wrong I love the idea and was a HUGE fan of the series but it has been so mismanaged that I am in no hurry to pick these up. They arent going to sell out and so few people know about them I feel like I can get them whenever.
Plus knowing that with how things are going its almost assured that the P version of the series will not make it to the end of the series is very disappointing as well
