It's almost complete! I just need a 2009 railsplitter penny and an 1899 dime. The last big hole got filled with some Buffalo nickels that came in the mail today. They were acid dated, but being so close was driving me up the wall (I'm sure you all know that feeling), so I needed to finish my first big collection. I also need a Standing Liberty quarter and a Franklin half dollar to have a 20th century type set of less than a dollar coins. I'd love to get an Ike and a Peace dollar too, but they're pretty pricey for me. I'm sure some day I'll get them.
Rest in Peace

I don't have a problem with acid dated Buffalo nickels -- better that than no date at all.

It sounds like you took on an ambitious project.

Post some pictures when you get the chance. I'd love to see it.

Here are pictures! The three pictures are 1890's-1930's 1940's-1970's and 1980's-2010's, along with 2004-2005 nickels and 2009 pennies. I'm very proud of this, and I love to see the change in styles, the passage of time, and imagining the stories connected to the coins.

Very nice start! It is always good to see people enthusiastic about the hobby. Do you see youself getting into the earlier type coins as well?

mkman123: Thanks!

Joe2007: Yeah, it's been an on and off love of mine since I was young. Right now it's really on =-p To answer your question, yes, I really love having older coins to look at. Near the top of my list is Three Cent coins, nickel and silver, and a Barber quarter. I just love the look of them somewhat worn, although new is nice too. Too old and things get out of my price range.
