piedfort or pie-fed
This is the first piedfort coin I have got.
Crikey they are a fat coin.
The normal $10 silver coins are 20 grams, This one is 40 grams and is the same diameter.

I really like the wombat, Trout1105. I've tried to win it a few times, myself, but out of the whole series, I've only managed to corral the Kook.

that one of mine is actually a Numbat one of Australia's endangered species.
I also have the Bird series coins in the $10 coins.
They are all nice designs and well struck
every year has a diferant design.

Whoops. Got 'em mixed up. Have to admit, I've never even heard of a Numbat. They must be related to the Wombat, right?

I know diddly squat about the biology of Aussie marsupials, but I just googled it and the Numbat is not closely related to any current, living species. It is considered to have been more closely related to the now-extinct Thylacine, or Tasmanian tiger.

I thought it might be close to the Bilby, but like I said, I know nothing about it.

Wombats closest relatives are Koalas. Go figure eh?

looking at the numbat it does have a bit of a thylacine look to it. I wouldn't have guessed it unless pointed out though.

Tasmanian tiger. Yep, I see it now. That's a coin I wished I'd bought in 2010. The last one sold for $300+!
