Just wondering if this penny and quarter is PMD. The penny is bent and only seems to have ridges from something on one side and the quarter seems to have a die chip where the mint mark should be and is missing some lettering on the opposite side. If this happens to not be PMD is there any increased value?

PDM for the penny. Looks like someone used a pair of pliers to bend it which would account for the ridges. The filled mintmark is where the post of the mintmark post broke off. It's an error, but an extremely common one. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the reply and the welcome. Just a couple questions..with the quarter is this common for the year or just coins all together. With the penny wouldnt there be markings from a pair of pliers on both sides not just one? I'm not trying to seem like I'm challenging you at all Just trying to learn hehe. Thanks again for the reply :)

Cent is damaged. The quarter looks like a struck through error on the reverse rim area. Possible debris blocking strike.

The cent could have held by a pliers at one end and shoved against just about anything -- although why anybody would do that is beyond me.

It could have easily happened accidentally as well, perhaps by being dropped, falling into a little crack, getting driven over....maybe...

Thanks for the replies more opinions would really be appreciated! Do we know if what KisNap said is common for all coins and the year of this coin? Is the strike error common? Would this quarter be worth any more then face value?
Rest in Peace

I'm no expert -- but I did a little surfing around and I saw on 'Coin Talk' that a similar question was raised about a 1981 P Unc. quarter from a mint set.

They're saying it is very common in quarters from the late 70's and early 80's and that it has no premium value.

Hope that helps.
