Picked up a small 14K white gold ring this morning at a yard sale for $1.00.

I couldn't hardly get my wallet out fast enough when she said she wanted one dollar for it.

It's missing a stone. Weighs 1.13 grams and it passed the acid test!

I love yard sales!

Very nice find. I need to get in the habit of looking at that stuff more closely. I would have a hard time being discreet about it though since I probably couldn't read the marking without a loupe of some sort lol.

Yeah, sometimes I also have a hard time seeing small details. I can't see up close as well as I once could. It can be hard to keep my poker face at times!

I also scored a neat piece of costume jewelry out of a "free" box. That person had no idea what they had! It will contribute handsomely to the coin fund!

Yard sales are an excellent source of second hand gear, some of which I've discovered is better quality than anything one can buy at the local China-Mart and it's usually priced to sell. My better half tries to get out every decent Saturday in the summer. Usually, she just scores me 25 cent books to read; but occasionally, we come across things approximating that gold coin of yours and it definitely makes up for the gas money when it happens. Unfortunately, I don't have any good garage sale coin purchases to share but I've heard that happens, as well, from time to time.

Funny thing is my fiancee just brought home a small sterling silver antique spoon. Told me it cost her a buck. Not bad.

Well, here's one of my yard sale finds during the fall of 2011:

There's a footnote to this above story supporting the old adage, 'what goes around, comes around.'

I initially did not pay but $ 30 for this coin but later returned to the yard seller with the unsolicited balance of $ 59 for a total of $ 89 just because I thought it was the right thing to do.

After having dropped off the additional $ to the seller I later received a call from one of their relatives a week later requesting that I come out to also evaluate their old coins....

That's very nice of you, mdpmedia.
It's a good thing to keep in mind the line 'waht goes around, comes around.' as you've said.
