I know this won't be for everyone, but for those who are in or near Chicago, perhaps you can find this "loose change." I spotted it earlier this spring while attending a conference at the Hyatt Regency, which is within walking distance of this site. From the looks of it, these coins have been there quite awhile, even though there are many homeless wandering the nearby streets. I have every reason to think that it's still there. Can you find it and photograph it? Loose Change in Chicago...Can you Find It and Photograph It? Here's a Clue...When You See This, You're Close. And a Second Clue...When you See This, You're Within Feet! Edited by hunter20ga 06/02/2012 6:27 pm

I can't get there and I think I know where this is but will only leave a clue myself and excuse myself from the contest ... am I correct?

NickelGuy: Clever fellow! You are, as they say, on the right "track."

I spent an hour with Google satellite maps and I just can't get close enough to find it. A satellite pic from the web wouldn't count as a photo anyway....
It is a puzzler though. I think I have an idea about where it is, but I don't get into the city very often anymore.

Yes...I was pretty surprised when I saw the coins, myself. I think it's a bit of a "wishing well" effect. You, know, where people toss small denomination coins into almost any pool or puddle of water. These coins have to be tossed to end up where they are at...and many, I'm sure, bounce off the landing surface and fall to the ground 15 feet below.

I can't drive to south side of East Monroe St between S Michigan Ave and S Columbus Dr and look over the sidewalk railing to the steel beam below over the tracks but that's where I think it is. Oh, I think this is a Henning nickel.

hunter20ga I think you're close with your 'wishing well' idea, but I think it is more likely to be the remains of Pitching Pennies...and apparently nickels. If there is a wall behind those bolts, then I think I'd feel fairly certain that was the case.

Alas...no wall lurks behind the bolts. Rather there's a 15 foot drop (give or take).
