MOST.... who just are getting into the IDEA, of the top 100 Vams, and so forth have really missed the intention
of the TOP 100 lists.....they are NOTY the most most valuable vams out there....in fact most are the most COMMON, as well there are a few that almost can not be attained, Per Say the King of Vams, 1878
VAM 44...
The sole intent of the list was for all of the people to see, and understand that this particular series of coins has many errors in every year... This list covers many commonly found "Die Varieties"..as well as the most sought after coins with few known...
That being said, as far as value for ANY given coin or VARIETY,,one must research just how many are know for the specific die variety, and the conditional rareity of hiogh grades that are found,, My meaning is, if many are found in low grades, and few are known to exist in high grades../.you do the math, but the low grades don't bring much money unless there are very few know for the
VAM and its INTREST value. Rareity value can be missleading...
The list is just a list to interest people of common to uncommon coins one can find and collect WHAT EVER TICKLES THERE FANCY OR<<<anything THEY ARE INTERESTED IN...Its not a list of the most expensive and sought after coins.. do your home work and find out if you happen to have a 1943 copper Lincoln....if its not copper then search for what die variteies for a 1943 steel cent there are, and which are worth something above the rest...Vams are just the same...G
