So I taped the two hour special about the Hatfields an McCoys after watching the 6 hour mini series which just ran this past Mon through Wed. Most interesting piece of American history that feud, an I enjoyed the Hollywood version even though often the documentary paints more of an accurate picture perhaps as in this case....

Anyhow, story for another board perhaps but during the commercial I took big interest in an advertisement trailer for this upcoming Monday Pawn Stars episode.....

This guy walks in with a bag of silver bars and starts unloading 100 oz. big boys onto the counter an says.... "This is over three thousand oz. of silver and I want 115,000 for it all."

Or according to my math around 38 bucks per oz....

Rick starts his spill about taking chances on big buys an the scene cuts to him the bars and a drill press, He takes a center section next an puts in a bowl for the acid test and then it cuts back to the guy who owns the bars an he says something like to Rick...."You mean there is a chance these bars are not pure solid .999 silver?"

And Rick looks down an shakes his head a time or two, rof....

Does not look good, but usually when they try an make you think it is gonna go one way, it goes 180 degrees the other directions, so I am guessing the bars are legit....

To have a little fun I would like to hear thoughts on is the bar stash gonna be real or fake, an if real how much will Rick offer....

I bet he offers 28 per oz. or around 84 grand for the lot.....

Don't forget that these episodes were probably filmed months ago.

with Banknotes. The episodes were probably filmed months ago so I think he will offer above $30 an oz. It will be a pretty cool episode though, thanks for the heads up.

I say he'll offer $30 bucks. Why? Cause he has to store it, pay employees to sell, takes up real estate. And if you want to charge that premium, then you can go open up your pawn shop, pay for advertising and sell at whatever price you want. I also notice the Old Man has big stacks of silver as he is known to collect them a lot. They do occasional cuts/quick scenes of silver bricks. I'll check it out!

I saw that commercial preview. and they were drilling into it to look for steel.
I think the show is an entertaining joke, and somewhat staged, but I'll bet that the seller gets disappointed.
If I had all that silver, I wouldn't be taking it to a pawn shop to unload in the first place.
I wouldn't need to.

I agree, but wouldn't expect him to pay more than $25/ounce for those very same reasons. Why would anybody expect a pawn shop to pay anywhere close to spot for silver and gold?

I think the real PAWN STARS are the people at Hardcore Pawn in Detroit, Mich....

Can you wait, I know a guy that specializes in ___________________ (insert topic here)........

The real kicker is that as much silver and gold coins that come into their shop, you would think that they would atleast subscribe to the graysheet, greensheet, etc. and know what the dealers are paying... (I know dealers pay only a percentage of bid)...

We ALL know both those shows are scripted Hollywood dribble, but it is the bars that catches my interest an the deal itself. No matter real or not. They will make it as real a similar deal would go down, so entertaining an so it serves its purpose....

That Hard Core Pawn is the biggest bunch of fake T.V. going, as the people who bring in obsolete 15 year old electronic junk with half the parts asking 500 bucks, then throwing a fit. COMPLETE with the shows MICROPHONE rigged on the back of their droopy pants as they get tossed out the door which is proof enough of the script, lol....

No way he only offers 50% of value. I'll bet my life on it. This is not a gun from the 1800's. It's bullion. My guess is 85%-90% of whatever spot was at the time of filming.

On one of the episodes (Or an interview), Rick says that he will pay almost spot for bullion because he knows that it's a quick sale.

rick is going to talk about how its a huge risk and silver is very volatile blal blah blah and end up with an offer so bad that the guy ends up oweing him money for vault storage fees lol.

"this guy walks in with some really cool sheesh that I just gotta have, but only if he is a complete clueless fool so I can rip him the heck off and pay him next to nothing for it"

Lowball offer as usual. You wanna sell used furniture and tools to a pawn shop...go for it. Not coins or bullion.
