Hi,

My name is Al and I have just discovered your forum.

I live in a town in England called Rotherham and have been collecting coins all my life, not particularly any age or place, just different ones from anywhere.

Now I have more free time I have finally got around to sorting my coins and have managed to discover where all of them are from except one!

I am hoping that someone here will know its origin. I have spent many hours researching it and got nowhere.

Anyway here is the photos so anyone who can help I would be grateful.

Thanks, Al

Hi Guys,

Wow, Fast! I knew there would be someone who recognised the coin but I didn't think that it would be so quick.

On another tack, does anyone know the best way to find out what lies beneath the verdi gris on some of my older English coins?

I have maybe 50 or so that I can't tell what they are.

I don't mind doing anything to reveal the coins as they are just discs at the moment with no real interest to them. Even if the value of them is reduced to zero I would rather have a recognisable coin in any condition than one I cannot recognise at all.

Any Ideas folks?

Also thanks again for the fast replies.

Vic, where abouts in "gods wonderful county" are you then?

Al

Top left corner of the page has a 'Search Coin Community' box. There's more than enough info/opinions on coin cleaning/verdigris.

Home town Keighley, spent nearly 20 years in Oxenhope (near Haworth) but, as my handle suggests, I'm now an expat living on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, Thailand.
