So I found these two roll hunting and in the cash register at work this past month. I'm not sure if either are genuine- but the possible Cud covers most of "trust" and looks good to me. I know nothing about clipped planchet errors, the second looks like anything could have happened to it. Any opinions are appreciated, thanks!

Josh

Possible Cud?

The first looks good for a Cud. Good find.

The second coin...it is hard to tell. It is hard to tell from the pics. Possible to get a close-up of the area in question. If it is a clip...I would think that the minute size would not show any premium for the coin. It could be PMD...I can not make the call. I'm sure someone will have a answer for you one way or the other.

Definite Cud. The second appears to be a small clip - there is a noticeable Blakesly effect.

nice. I hope so. I'll get better pics up if I can, but they would be my first and second error coins, excluding greasers.

First coin is a Cud.

Second coin is a small rim clip.

Thank you so much for the responses. As I mentioned before, these are my first of each, are they considered uncommon? I wish they were a little less beat up!

Both are genuine errors. The clip has minimal value, the Cud is in the $10 to $15 range.

the 1983 is actually a Cud with a reverse counter-clash. on the reverse, there is a clash between the FI in FIVE and ED in UNITED. It is a clash of RICA. Still worth 10 to 15 as someone pointed out.

PS, good finds! I've gone through $9,300 of nickels and have yet to find this 1983! I have found 3 other Cuds, though.

I agree with the 83 being a Cud, but from what I see I think the 86 is just damage. I have seen a tiny clip cause that kind of appearance to the rims, but it doesn't extend out into the field especially as a raised feature as seen on the obverse.
