What would do that to the obverse ?,the reverse thing I've seen on a fair few coins & IMO is PMD. http://www.ebay.com/itm/380445589570?ru=http://www.ebay.com:80/sch/i.html%3F_from=R40&_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=380445589570&_sacat=See-All-Categories&_fvi=1&_rdc=1

My vote is definitely PMD. As to the instrument of torture I'm not sure.

Have to agree with enworb - have been busy trying to figure out what coin was responsible for the "overstrike" but have so far been unsuccessful.

Irrespective of how it happened, it's PMD on both sides - all the way. This seller should know better than to call it an 'Error'. I'm very disappointed to see him selling a 'shed job'. He'll get no more business from me! With over 21,000 feedback, this seller will know without a doubt that this is simply garbage!
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

I have bought from this seller in the past. Posted a bunch of stuff 10 days after I paid for it so it took nearly 3 weeks to get here. I also have bought a die crack error threepence which turned out to be a scratch in the coin. All the normal coins I have got from this seller have been true to the listing but I would steer clear of his "error listings"

Yeah, PMD. His errors are worth looking at though. I've picked up a couple of badly described (or even completely unidentified) errors from him for bargain prices.

Nah I was prety happy with the rest of the stuff so I just kept it and chucked it in my bullion bin.

Weird to use a 5 cent this way, it is kinda small but maybe the impression is from the bottom of a stool leg when the coin was used as a chock. maybe..... It is the only thing I can come up to explain the perfect ring on the reverse and the off center damage on the obverse. Cheers Pete
