The coin is nice. Not every coin has to be coloured. I don't want the RCM turning into a knick-knack factory like the franklin mint or new zealand mint.

@ fkl118, you are correct, not all coins needs to be. There are some, however, that would simple look better if they were. If you were forced to buy one of these, which one would you take? (please forgive my lack of photoshop skils)

Too bad it wasn't an ounce, it would have been a nice addition to my 1 ounce fine silver animal collection. I refuse to deviate.

@fll118, @jpaiva83. You are right, not every coin need to be coloured. But IMO, this series of wildlife creatures coins need to be. Look at the recently wildlife and nature release: the bird series, the bugs and flowers series - you will see. Just imagine how those coins look like without colors on them. For symbollic coins, absolutely no color would be better For example: the one you post above, airplane, car, transportation...

yup, no need for all to be in color. Take these four locomotive coins for example. They are perfect, just the way they are.

Yes It takes a lot more skill to produce a coin that comes alive without painting it. There are the few exceptions but as a rule a well designed and engraved coin will excel over a painted coin any day

Quote: There are the few exceptions but as a rule a well designed and engraved coin will excel over a painted coin any day Only to a true coin collector. To the general public this coin will not be well accepted. If the coin was painted or glowed in the dark it would sell out in record time and sell for a considerable premium.

My biggest pet peeve since joining this forum has got to be the complaints with every new coin that they sell for more than their bullion content. IT'S NOT BULLION. They are commemorative coins. A few years ago, these type of coins from the mint weren't even 99.99% silver - a lot were 92.5%. 100% silver content is a bonus, not the main selling point.
The main price determinant for many of these coins is the mintage. IMO, $70 for a mintage of 7500 is a remarkable price/mintage ratio.

OK, let's consider the Two Loons. Should they not have coloured that? Keep in mind that the Group of Seven ones are not.

I'm a traditionalist (love the group of 7 uncoloured), and even I think this coin would look better with colour. That being said, I still think it looks good and will probably get it.
