My local dealer sells Recognized and Unrecognized bars, I like the unrecognized as they are slightly above spot where the recognized are ~$4 more (1 oz bars). I wanted to gather a list of what you would call recognized. So far I have: Engelhard Johnson-Matthey Royal Canadian MintIn the unrecognized bin are: Pan American National Federal Art Bars

Pan American is a fairly well known company.

I think many dealers would classify Sunshine and Scottsdale as recognized. Maybe APMEX, Silvertowne, etc., as well. Btw, what kind of RCM bars does your dealer have in stock? I have been looking for some to add to my collection.

Pan American CBN was the first thing I thought of as well in the bottom list as under valued....
There is another well known mint out of Panama city Florida called Panama mint, if I am not mistaken an we had some in the old shop, via rounds an bars with the weights pictured on them....

I love finding ulgy old art bars. I often find them for under spot and when I do I feel like I just hit the jack pot. I know and understand what it is but often times other people have no idea what it is. I just bought 5 troy ounce bars for 15$ each.

Quote: I just bought 5 troy ounce bars for 15$ each. Do you mean 5oz bars or five 1oz bars?

@traevin: Perth definitely pours bars, both gold and silver PAMP Suisse, Credit Suisse, and Perth Mint bars are very widely accepted in Asia, much more so than Engelhard and JM actually. A neat one I saw just the other day is one with "Canadian Silver Refinery" stamped on it. Can't say that it's recognizable, but it my very well be that I'm not as well versed in silver bars as I should be

hagbard,
I believe it's a Mexican mint/mining op.

@hagbard: First Majestic is a Canadian mining company with mines in Mexico. They do not have their own mints however, and contracts Northwest Territorial Mint to mint their bars and coins

Thanks for clarifying, Po. At least I had the "Mexico" part, correct.

It's one of the reasons I like them so much. The quintessential North American Silver product; dug up in Mexico, formed in USA, owned by Canadians :)
