I have a collection of over 20 silver dollars, most of them Morgans with a few Peace dollars. I am worried about the polish on them as that was in the condition they were in when I inherited the collection. How much damage does this do in the value of the coins?

Post a few photos of the coins in question. If they are indeed polished they are most likely only worth silver value. John1

It sounds like they would only be worth the silver value unless some of them are rare dates. Post some pictures and we can give you a better idea of value.

Only worth silver value but the rare dates might increase the price

I agree with the rest, but an 1893 S ( for example) is still worth a pretty penny even polished.

How do you know they are polished? They did make some Proof Morgans throughout the years they were minted and there are allot of real nice DMPL Morgans as well, so please do not do anything else to them until we have a little more information. If you can not post pictures let me know and I will help. If you have no way of taking a picture at least let us know the dates and mint marks on the coins in question and that alone could tell us if it is at least a proof or not and if it is a date that is easily found in DMPL condition (but would still need some type of photograph to really determine if that is what you have)

I have had to sit back, and wonder "why" some one admits these coins. persay all of them are all polished,.... in that I have to wonder,....these are either really col, or NOT, but PHOTO's will tell the tale of inherieted coins...Too many times, the collections of those before us held the GLEAM of "PRIORITY PL, DMPL coins". others would scale down there appearance, so to speak, as they would feel, These, polished coins PL or DMPL to an unknown grandpa's holder , would not know the grading standards of today.... I ....SAY this as I am 40 plus years.. as a novice..{hehehe} there are many cons which are polished or altered, and photos, would really make the difference for an honest assesment of your situation...

That's a small image but if that Morgan's polished, it is lightly polished only; not to the point of damage unless the reverse is torn up.
If your coin has an "S" mintmark below the eagle on the reverse, you have a valuable coin!

Looks pretty nice to me. If it's polished, then just barely. It looks almost prooflike, actually.
