Hey all :). I've just started my coin collection, and until recently thought I had lost most of what I remember having, but turns out it was in another box for some reason :S. Anyway, I've gone through and catalogued most of them, but have a few questions Firstly, this coin. Dad is convinced that it's an ancient coin from like 2,000 years ago. Sorry it's not much to go by, and probably too hard to identify, but I thought I'd give it a shot :P. Here's a side of it: Here's the other side: Next is this coin. I have no idea where it comes from, but I *think* that the front says it was made in 1221 or 1331? And if that's in the AH calender, that would make it either 1806 or 1912, right? I just can't find what coin it is, or where from :S And the back. Sorry about the sudden lighting change, the back was kinda more worn out than the front :P: Then I have this coin. I know it's a 50 coin from Ceylon, 1892. But my question is if it's still a coin because of that little hook thing on top? I've read about places making coin imitations and putting loop type things on it so it can be worn as jewellery. Would this be that, or would this be an actual coin with a loop on the top? Last coin is this one. I know it's 10 Cash from Fukien, but I can't tell what the date is :(. Any tips to reading Chinese coins for a date for future reference :)? Back:

1. I have no Idea, try India or Princley states. 2. is Iranian, I think a 50 dinars and the date is most likely 1331. 3. is from Sri Lanka and would have bullion value. And I would say is the loop is a later addition. 4. is a 10 cash fro Fukien in China around 1900. There is not date on the coin, but the central characters have the monarchs name.

Yup, correct about 2 :D! Thanks :D. Would never have guessed :(. And for 3, do you think it's fake because of the loop, or just someone decided to take 50 cents and put a loop on it :S? And for 4, do you happen to know how to find the date? I know it's between 1901 and 1905, but not sure when exactly :(

So you did :P. Cool then! So then 3 is a real coin :). Excellent :D. And ah, so no dates on Chinese coins then :S. I guess I'll just leave it blank or something then :S? Now if someone knows anything about the first one, my collection for now will be all complete and catalogued :)

The first one is a Mughal Empire dam or half dam. Not ancient - more likely in the 1750 to 1850 period.

First coin looks like a worn out piece of the Maratha confederacy coin from Hinganghat mint (because there is that double line between two lines of the legend).Another possibility is Chatrapati Sivaji coin again of Maratha origin. More possibility is for it being the former.

Thanks Alex! My collection is still pretty small so far though :P. Getting it up though, which is always good :).
And thanks too :D! I'll start looking for Maratha Confederacy coins :D! How you guys manage to figure it out from a small worn out coin like that is beyond me :P

Iranian coin is dated 1321, not 1331.
