Need some better lighting on it. Also, one other "flag" that always pops up when I see a raw "early Proof" is "why". Why hasn't it already been slabbed? I realize that not every valuable coin on the planet has been slabbed or should be, but early Proofs tend to be a different story for a lot of reasons (protection, higher value, grade opinion where one grade difference can be a big difference in price, etc.). Usually, I've found that when they're raw it's because none of the higher tier grading services will slab them for some reason.

This coin came from an old timers collection where it sat for 25+ years. None of his stuff is slabbed. There are no problems with this coin that I can see. I will try and get some shots with better light...these were taken on the fly.

Given that information, that might be a very good find. That's about the only reason you'll find this stuff raw.

I think it looks like a lock 65 if there are no obvious hairlines on it. What are the mirrors like?

The mirrors are very reflective......I just burned a spot on my retinas.

The reverse has slight cameo contrast. There really are no hairlines I can see on this coin. I don't know alot about these coins but from what I have looked at on Heritage this coin looks 65 easy. The only spots are the small specks on the obverse shown in the photo.

He brought in some Peace dollars to show me and I ended up spotting this and picked it up from him instead. $180.

I think you did extremely well....I'm jealous. I never run into those kind of deals.
