None of the top TPG's have ever certified/graded a circulated 1936 Dot penny to my knowledge, so I'm not about to start trusting some obscure company that suddenly is...

Not a TPG, you can buy those holders and labels anywhere and use a manual impulse sealer on them. As for the coin in that auction, all I can say is welcome to Dean's world of dot conspiracy theories (read some of the threads on CCRS written by the username cbu, if you are intrigued).

Thanks for the info, SPP. I was under the mistaken impression that this was yet another dodgy grading "company"...

Had a feeling that somewhere on the internet, there was at least one discussion going-on about this listing...
Here's your opportunity to ask questions of the person that is directly involved...
Let's see if I can save anyone from having to ask a question...
The coin is in a Private Label holder (mine) and the coin was not assigned its grade by me...
As SPP points-out ... "you can buy those holders and use a manual impulse sealer on them" ... >> is correct <<...
The "label" or as I like to refer to it, the information insert ... cannot be purchased anywhere, as they are of my own design and each on takes 15 to 20 minutes before a finished product comes to pass...
As Royal Silver points-out ... "Lol at their identification number, 1A1 first and only coin they have "graded" ... >> is not correct <<...

OK. In the listing you have: "1936 10¢ - As 25¢ placement; centered and at entrance of bow opening" However, the pic seems to clearly show the dot between leaves, not at the entrance of the bow opening. And, by the orientation and comparison, I would say the leaves at 7 o'clock on the reverse.

cbu,from your blog, Quote: One of the main components to the dot story and certainly one that can easily be recognized as being the very "foundation" or "corner stone" of the story ... is the "unsupported claim" that in the early part of 1937, there was a shortage of coins and therefore an "emergency issue" of 1¢, 10¢ and 25¢ pieces occurred. My reference to the "emergency issue" as being an "unsupported claim" is based on the undisputable fact that there has never been any "official" Government documentation shared with the hobby that would support such a claim to be true. I certainly welcome anyone within the hobby who does have any official Government documentation that would lend support to the long professed claim of an emergency issue, to come forward and share such with the hobby. While we are waiting for someone to come forward with official proof to there having actually been an emergency issue of certain denominations in the early part of 1937 ... I will share with the hobby an "official" Government document which will easily show that a shortage of coins did not exist in the early part of 1937. Do you believe the dot coins were struck in 1936 rather than 1937?

All we truly know about the 1936 dot coins ... is that there are denominations dated 1936, that have a raised dot on them...
- Mint issued, business-strike 1936 coinage found to have a raised dot -
* 1936 1¢ - as shown
* 1936 10¢ - as shown
* 1936 10¢ - As 25¢ placement; centered and at entrance of bow opening
* 1936 25¢ - as shown
* 1936 1$ - obverse on King
dialog_gvf; I'm simply informing others that there is also another 1936 10¢ with a dot that is located as the 25¢ is located ... I did not provide any pictures of the coin, I described the coin ... same applies for the 1$...

"Do you believe the dot coins were struck in 1936 rather than 1937?"-DBM
A greater possibility exists for the coins to have been struck in 1936 ... due to the fact that the four lower denominations [1¢, 5¢, 10¢ & 25¢] were struck on-time in 1937...
So to answer your question more direct, Yes I believe that the lower denominations were struck in 1936...
