From what I have seen on the Home Shopping Network, buying coins from them is never a good idea. Most of their offers are rip offs. There goal is just to talk and talk about the increase in silver and gold value and the "rarity" of the new State Quarters. There sole goal is to find those handfuls of people out there that are uneducated and fall into the trance of a supposable good sales pitch. By all means, do what you wish with your own money. Personally, I would spend my hard earned bucks some place else.

I would never buy from them. Is there really a market for those gold plated State Quarters they try to sell? I consider them damaged.

I would assume it is referring to a large purchase they made in Greenville, NC. They tend to name "hoards" after the area where they were purchased.

Just another marketing gimmick to make the items more "special"

Nothing is particularly special about these, and yes it's primarily a marketing gimmick.

However, the idea is that there is this mom-and-pop store owner in rural S.C. who set aside every silver coin that came into his store for thirty or forty years. They are now being sold en-mass. These coins have not been through 5 dealers' hands over the past 5 years, so while key dates will probably be sold as such, certain varieties and errors might well be part of the mix.

The tv shows are a very expensive way to build a collection without a doubt.

But I differ from some of the posters that call anyone who purchases from them a "sucker" or a "fool". They offer generous return privileges and payment terms. They come into folks' homes and build a relationship with them. I don't blame people for purchasing from them, but it's not for me.

The way I was raised, anyone who purchases jewelry from a store in the mall is paying WAY TOO MUCH. That doesn't mean anyone who does is stupid.

I feel a Greenville Hoard probably came from Tulsa or something.

Of course you have to take into consideration that they are "VERY RARE" and "AVAILABLE HERE ONLY FOR A LIMITED TIME"!

I missed that one. That is the type of thing I've been waiting to see. A Copper plated Washington quarter. I don't think it's gold though and just think, they will look just like the new Washington Dollar. This will make store owners, bar tenders, gas station workers, etc just so happy trying to figure out what the heck is being given them.
