I haven't posted a coin in a few days, so I thought I'd share my 1943 WLHD. I love this coin. Edited by Weezer1878 06/26/2012 12:30 pm

I think that the Walker is the most beautiful coin ever minted. The flow of the walking liberty and eagle are superb!

I'm a big Walker lover, and have an obscene amount of $ in my Walker album. I find it a tad funny that you called it a quarter in your title and a WLD ( Walking Liberty Dollar? Dime? in your post. I tend to like one "RUN" of design in each denomination of 20th century US coins: IHC, tho steel pennies are cool Buffs Mercs SLQ Walkers Peace Indian Head gold ( particularly $10 ) and kind of dislike the rest as far as collecting - tho proof Frankies are nice halves as well. LOL

These coins develop a broad diameter wear line on the obverse along Liberty's body, and also a broad diameter wear line over the eagle's body, and down the left leg.
Very distracting in VG and lower grade coins. A coin design should retain as much of the design intent as possible as it continues to wear in circulation.
Some see this as a fault in the design.
However, these coins are spectacular if well struck, and in MS63 or better. They then show what they truly are: a coin with very high artistic merit, and an advertisement to their Country of issue.
The neo classic style of American coins of the first half of the 20th Century is always appreciated, even by those who are unfamiliar with numismatics.

Weezer, your 1943 is a nice example. I have quite a few walkers myself and continue to look for up grades for my set.

Could have been a Walking Liberty Half Dime too.

I love the WLHD. The B&M dealer I visit sells them for a little over spot. Anytime he has any XF and above, I snatch up as much as I can afford.

I have a bunch but this is probably the only one where I can see a lot of lines in the skirt and stars on the cape.
