I'm sure none of you have ever seen this title before! But nonetheless, I want to see your silver 3 cent pieces! I doubt there are very many collectors who are trying to complete the set, though I'm sure most have at least one type example. I'll allow a few days for everyone to get their pictures together: Thur May 24 - 1851 or 1851-O Fri May 25 - 1852 Sat May 26 - 1853 Sun May 27 - 1854 Mon May 28 - 1855 Tue May 29 - 1856 Wed May 30 - 1857 Thur May 31 - 1858 Fri June 1 - 1859 Sat June 2 - 1860 Sun June 3 - 1861 Mon June 4 - 1862 or 1862/1 Tue June 5 - 1863 or 1863/2 Wed June 6 - 1864 Thur June 7 - 1865 Fri June 8 - 1866 Sat June 9 - 1867 Sun June 10 - 1868 Mon June 11 - 1869 or 1869/8 Tue June 12 - 1870 Wed June 13 - 1871 Thur June 14 - 1872 Fri June 15 - 1873 Closed 3 Of course, all varieties and proofs are welcome! Sadly, my camera is not functioning, so I can't upload any pictures. Have fun!

I only have the one in my 7070. However, I would love to see what others have collected. Prethen? Where are you?

I figured most would only have one. Either way, though, I'm excited to see them!

I have the business set up to 1862. After that, you'll be very fortunate to say anyone on this board (or any other) have any business strike examples to show. I have some Proofs, including some after 1862, though.

Yeah, it is getting harder and harder to find anything after '62. So few were made and so many were melted that it just is annoying today, but all well. When you find one it makes it that much more fun! I'm excited to see all of them!

I've only seen maybe a couple in hand at any show. Usually these are only available at auction or specialists/specialist dealers. I've been looking for them for several years now. No luck.
They are very rare pieces as over 90% were melted. Some of the rest are problems. The rest are just all over the place. Also, I'm not so sure it's simple to tell if it's a business strike or not.

I'm pretty sure that it's hard to differentiate between business and proof strikes, which seems common for other series at that time as well. Don't forget that it starts tomorrow (Thursday) with 1851!

I get to start! These are old pictures - I just got a new USB microscope so I will try to post better ones tonight. My first 3 cent silver. This got me addicted to the series.

This might be an 1851...? (This has been done before, but I love fish scales, so I don't mind seeing them again).

Some of you might recognize these images from the June 2011 Coin World cover story.
