Hello Everyone, Just wondering if I should get this coin professionally graded? Looks like a high MS grade to me. Any way it could be a proof? The fields just don't look like business strike to me. What's your opinion of a grade? Thanks

I would put it in the AU53 range. I do notice wear on the high points, ribbon, feathers, wreath. It's a nice coin but not worth sending in (value/cost to submit) ratio. That coin would look great in a Dansco!

AU Really?
The Liberty and diamonds are boldly there and there is zero wear on the coin, Must just be the crummy images.

Steven, can we get more photos of it? It's a great looking coin but too hard to grade it from these photos.

Could be...I was judging based on those pics. Yeah, larger pics would be better.

looks like it used to be a mint state coin and wasnt properly sealed sort of reminds me of mint sets starting to turn, or it was touched by accident

is anyone else uncomfortable with the color on this? This is a copper nickel cent.

maybe it is glare, but I don't see the curl that goes down towards the cheek, half way between the eye and ear. Is that on the coin in good detail?

I'm waiting for the larger pictures but yes, I thought the surfaces were odd looking.

Here's a couple of better images. Not sure what to think of the coin. Maybe it was cleaned a long time ago and that's why the fields look shiny? It doesn't look like it was cleaned harshly because I don't see any fine scratches. Also it is UNC it's just the weird color makes the liberty and other tell tale signs look weakly struck. Could this be a fake? Something just doesn't seem right with the coin to me.

I would call it Unc Details. Looks like it was cleaned possibly at one time, but an attempt was made to recolor for whatever reason. As stated, it's a CN cent.

Yeah the more I look at the coin the more I would have to agree with the UNC details grade.
That would explain the weird color, some parts of the fields are very pale which to me would indicate that all of the original color was once stripped away by some kind of non evasive cleaning solution.
It's a shame too because it also has a rotated reverse by about 40%.
Just have no clue why somebody would want to render such a great coin almost worthless.
