What do you all think? I know, nothing special or particularly valuable. Sorry they are not $300 coins...lololol. But they were in my budget. What say the experts?

I would say for what I can see the Jefferon is Unc , Maybe MS-63 the buffalo looks like it shows a slight bit of rub on the shoulders of the buffalo so I would say Au-55-58 it has Unc details mostly it could be in the photo and not the coin. Nice coins it doesn't matter how much One can spend to build a collection and who's is better, but weather or not you enjoy it .

The Jefferson can't be MS, I see wear on both sides. I'm still looking at the buffalo. I'm not being too hard on you, am I?

No not at all , but I do not see the wear on the Jefferson exspecially on the obverse, on the reverse I think you are referring to the pillars , I believ thats jsut a weak strike . Sure I could be wrong.

I paid high AU for the coin (which was only a couple of bucks), because it was in a basement slab listed at MS67. While I was fully aware it was a joke, I thought I also saw some wear. In hand, I can't see wear at all, but I have no idea if a weak strike was prevalent on Nickels. I assume so since they are very hard material, but who knows. I go out of my way to watch these basement slabbers items so that I can bid 4 or 5 points less than what they are selling and crack them out.

You will never be too harsh. I am posting these for help, and any and all is welcome. I stink at grading to begin with, and when it gets to MS levels, I call "uncle".

I will wait to hear from you on the buff though....

here is a 37 buffalo that looks a lot like yours and is graded MS-60. The biggest difference is that, on yours, the "F" in Five is weak.

also, I see your point about a weak strike on the Jefferson, I tend to grade on the low end of the scale, unless it's my coin of course :)

I think the Jefferson is AU. These are known for weak strikes on the reverse. I had a couple of older ones that the steps were completely filled in, but it was definitely uncirculated and had great luster.

The Buffalo could either go to high AU or UNC. This is a coin that I really need to see in hand for that call. Especially being photographed through a holder, these can appear to have rub or wear even when they don't. I don't see any rub on the cheek and I have seen some pretty weak reverse strikes on these.
