I want you opinions. There is a die crack running from above the nose down through the chin and below.Just wanted to let you know that its not a scratch. Also the Mint mark CC is doubled.Actually this coin has more die cracks than any other Morgan that I have ever had.

Better date CC, lots of die cracks for character, and the look of an ms65. Sweet!

Top-of-the-market 64, I think, by today's tighter standards. VAM-5, Doubled CC Top, if I'm seeing the detail pic right. I wonder about the cracking, though. It's in atypical places and patterns for die cracks. If it weren't for that spur coming off the G in God, I'd think it was in the planchet rather than the die.

Altogether fascinating coin.

Wow, that's freaky. I wonder if the die was overhardened, or maybe the planchets under-annealed, leading to an abnormal die failure.

I need to take more pictures to post them all,but there's a number of cracks starting at the edge and shooting straight over to the leaves and beyond on the reverse and theres one on the obverse that comes in from the edge, cuts the lower part of Miss Libertys neck and then goes down and through the top of the "1" in the date.

Very nice coin! I see it as an MS64. Love the die cracks! That coin has loads of character.

Just for my benefit, could you tell me which way the CC is doubled? I only have 1 CC so far, same year, more wear but the CC looks the same.

cp,
the CC is doubled at the top.Check the second "C" in my picture and you can make out the doubling at the top. Also the first "C" is much thicker than a regular "C". Hope that helps.

I see your doubling now, much bigger and better monitor at home. both my C's are fat, but from wear I guess. Thanks for the help, I need it more than I thought, peering at all my morgans through my new loupe tonight I finally realized the I of "IN" has the gap in it so it looks like a u kinda, when I brought that into view on the first one I thought I was going to have dancing fruit galore
