If you could meet this Master Designer face to face and ask him/her one question, what would it be?

Please put some though into this, as this thread has a bigger scope that will be explained a little later.

I will edit posts only to emphasize the question in green after the fact.

I've removed some posts from this topic. Please let's keep it on topic, limited to questions, not answers or guessing at answers. Thanks!

Interesting to say the least.

I would ask if there could be a contest for the next change in our modern coinage design. Whether it be a commem or regular circulation.

I know someone like D Carr would have a slight edge in base design, but I think it would be neat to have inputs and designs from all over the world. Just have something simple for a reward for the winner. One year lot of all minted coins and commems during that year....

Didn't think about this too long, sorry.

Could there be a contest for the next change in our modern coinage design?

When can the U.S. Mint eliminate Presidents from our circulating coinage, with the exception of the current Presidential dollar program, and return to various renditions of "Liberty"?

OK, I'll ask what everyone wants to know....

Do you get compensated only if your design is used, or are you on the Mint payroll?

Will the mint ever do a joint program with the Post office to Produce Philatelic Numismatic Covers?

this allows more freedom for designers

There are two questions that I'll like to add.

Question 1:
Some countries use unusual hologram on circulation coins such as the Japanese 500 yen and Russian bimetal 10 rubles for extra security. Will the designer ever consider such security to be included?

Question 2:
Another question is regarding about coin edges - Many European countries suprisingly put interesting designs on the edge which at many times go really unappericated. Will the designer make full extent of the edge?

Aside from the State Quarter program, would the US mint ever consider releasing circulating commemorative quarters like the Royal Canadian Mint that circulate along side the regular issues?

My question: Why, even with the benefit of modern minting techniques, smaller production runs, and substantial price premiums, does the mint stick to relatively low relief commemoratives rather than allowing the artist the flexibility to recapture the grandeur of the higher relief coins of the classic commemorative series? Low relief is understandable for circulating coins but not commemoratives. Thanks!

I would like to know if the US mint would consider using nickel plated steel or some other composition in light of the recent increases in the metals market.

Which one of all his/her experiences, would he/she say was the most important to have as a "master' designer?

Followup: was this experience accidental or on purpose on your part?
