I just found this 1990-D. The obverse is almost slick and the reverse is too but it has more of the circles than the front. I know I've seen one of these before but I cant remember anything about it. Crop circles... Maybe somebody can clue me in...

Looks like an old album, maybe a really tiny 45.
No clue what that is from (other than PMD I assume?)

They could be lathe lines.
Never saw any that pronounced before but
i guess possible. The die blank did not get polished enough to
remove the original lathe lines. Also combined with wear there seems
to be debris filling on the die also.

Unknown form of PMD, not lathe lines from the die production process. Lathe lines have a completely different appearance, they are in relief instead of a groove and they will be found in the fields and not on top of the devices.

PMD/PSD. Looks like someome use a lathe to cut the grooves into the coin. Whatever caused it, it's just a damaged coin.

Not sure about this coin having actual lathe lines or not
but lathe lines can run through the devices also.
They are seen in this case mostly on the reverses
but can be on both obv. and rev. and run through one or
both of the fields and devices. This is Ken Potters determinations
anyway.

I am not saying it is not possible but I have never seen a coin with significant lathe line intrusion on the devices. At any rate, I don't think we need Ken Potter to determine that this coin is just plain ol' damaged.

Looks like it was squeezed. If a machine shop had done this on a lathe, the plating would have been missing.
