I have a question. I know how to differentiate between large and small dates. But what I do not know is this: Are there specific years for when there was large and small dates? Or do all cents in all years have the two types. Thanks

Yeah I know those two as I have seen previous examples on this forum. But are there any other ones?

It's only specific years, 1960 (both P&D), 1970-S, 1974 (P, D and S) and 1982. For 1982 there's also a composition change, and all the different combinations of date and composition exist except 1982-D small date copper. Only the 1960 small date and 1970-S small date are uncommon. Most albums don't have slots for the different 1974 varieties for some reason. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/...lldates.html

That's very good information Captain, thanks a lot.
Ok a different question that has noting to do with large or small dates. I bought the Mint Proof Sets in Clad 1999-2009. All the cents look really nice until 2009. They started toning and they are just 3 years old. I mean the early ones such as 1999 and 2000 are perfectly fine. why is that? Is it because of the copper composition in the 2009 cents? Should I do anything about it? Thanks

Quote: Is it because of the copper composition in the 2009 cents? That is almost certainly the reason, the 2009 bronze issues have known toning problems. The only way to prevent it is to keep the coins in as neutral of an environment as possible, minimizing heat and humidity.

The cents are in their set. I didn't move them from there at all. And in the Mint box in a tight closed plastic bag, I don't know what else to do :P

Let them tone. It's a natural process.
