Where do you buy your ASE's and what is the most you would pay for one? I decided I want to stack up more on the line of Silver Eagles then US 90% currency, so I would like the best bang for my buck when I purchase my next couple ASE's. MS70 coins and rare coins aren't really an interest in me. As long as they are about FINE quality, and any date really is fine.

I only occasionally have opportunities to buy small quantities of ASE's from my local coin dealers for between $1.50 to $5.00 over spot. Very few of my local dealers are putting many Silver Eagles up for sale due to the recent price slump. Additionally, when I was just getting started I always bought from my local dealers, in spite of the higher cost and limited availability, because that was the only way I felt comfortable buying bullion. Now days, I do the bulk of my buying from one of the major online dealers: APMEX, Provident Metals, or Goldmart. Premiums on ASE's can run as low as $2.49 over spot. If you're buying out of state, there's the benefit of no sales tax. You do have to watch the shipping cost, however, to make sure you're actually getting a good deal.

Local store usually... I have a monthly coin show where I live, and can SOMETIMES find good deals. I have actually found gold mart to have better prices then most of the dealers at this show though... But I recently bought 20 ASE from gold mart. Great company, just takes a little while to get your stuff

You know my only problem with 90 percent silver?
Sure its cheap, but later it sells for cheap as well, period....
Why waste time as most true silver hoarders will always prefer a .999 piece of silver, JMO....

When in Tucson AZ, I use Tuscon Coin and Autograph. Off the internet I use Gainesville Coins in Florida. Have used APMEX a couple times but their shipping charges are very high.

Sure 90% will bring big money, if it has NUMISMATIC value and is not just simple junk silver.... But guess what, you just opened a large can of worms if you want to get into slabbed coins, and better read up and do some serious research before you pull the trigger and overpay.... Grading is complicated, and there are many different LEVELS of condition, and many different sought after rare pieces with very limited minting, or for some crazy reason many got melted at one time and few remain.... ASE=KISS or keep it simple stupid, for a novice..... If you want to learn more as most always do then research it all over time. As that is where the collection takes you in time, that and the countless hours of life, lol..... Anotherwords you get bored one day stacking only ASE's and need something more to fill that void and you will find it in time, esp if you follow in the path of wiser here that have already did the research.... Best advice my dad ever told me was get with someone who is an expert in one particular field and do exactly what they do.... And from my experiences there are many here well smarter then myself who fit that criteria....

@ Silverhawk. Agree with you to a point. I find you can find deals as low as 2xface but watch it go for 3xface....and that's just for dimes. As the face value increases the higher premiums that go with them it seems. But just like silver in general, when you're dealing with the fractional 90 or 80%... quantity sells better unless you have something of numi value. I like junk silver...but like you said, I will trade most of it in at the right time for .9999 bullion. Cheers!

Yes I agree 100% Samsnate!
In the end what we all seek is knowledge of price....
There is a member here with a great name, one of my favs "I am price"
Whats that mean, they understand the value of things. And THAT is the key to success in this PM field, understanding what something is worth and what one will pay later, figuring in short positions or long, depending on your own particular situation. That and some luck and good timing, lol....

In the top line of your posts Samsante, you will see three paper icons and the one to the far right (3rd over from left with pencil over it) is the icon you want to click on to edit your posts and you can only do it within the first 24 hours of the original post....
I don't know how to quote in grey, as many of you do and I never asked or cared. BF used to give me a hard time about it, but I just use quotes old school style, even though it is more confusing to do so.....

I use a local scrap buyer, they have some nice coins sometimes or else I buy a bag of scrap at spot and stash it away.

30 dollars is a pretty good deal for ASE. I usually buy them at the local shop if they have them for a good price sometimes the price can be a little high and they dont always have as many as I want, sometimes they wont have any. I know I can always buy them from Provident or APMEX. and I always look on my phone in the parking lot of the local store so I know what I am willing to pay before I go in.
