I used to work in a bookshop and around xmas we had things going for £1.50 etc, otherwise it was all £1.99 £2.99 £3.99, but I managed to get a few, some I had to ask for, there was a boxing one and the woman had it in her hand but she wasn't going to spend it. We did get 50ps from the post office and sometimes I'd be first to go through, other times i'd have to wait for them to get in the draw. We got a load of fencing ones. Saying that I have a giant version of the horse one, woohooo. By giant I mean over a metre high I think.

I'm a bit disappointed that fencing isn't one of the represented sports. If there were a fencing one I'd be all over trying to get it, even if I have to do it from America.

Fencing has a coin! Its on of the few I have! The best way for you to buy would probably be from England's ebay and get it shipped over the pond.

Fencing definitely has one. The person who designed it had to redesign it because the original had an illegal move in it.

http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/ol...ng-fast.htmlAn article about how 70% of them have been taken out of circulation. I've been told there are 3 million coins of each, with 29 different designs that means 87 million, they estimate that 30 million have been in circulation. So all those people paying loads and then in october they flood the country with the rest (for xmas) and the price goes down as no one cares about the olympics any more.

>>The Kew Gardens was initially recorded as 10,000 minted but this was a mistake. They still make a few bob on ebayWith this one freely available in mint sets it was never going to be as rare as the ebay auctions would have one believe.

I read that you can request coins at face value from the mint, which I shall be trying!

There is a fencing coin? I must have missed it going over the lists.
Okay, now I have to find a way to get one.

As far as I understand it to you have to also run a post office..... let us know if you find out otherwise!

I sifted through a pile of change today... nothing iteresting though :S I still need a few £2 coins and fifty pences but I am not willing to pay silly money on ebay for something I should be able to drag out of my change. I am hoping my friend who works in a shop comes up trumps for me or I am able to do some swaps with someone. (I need King James bible £2, commonwealth games 2002 £2 with all flags except the English, 50p 2008 with Britannia reverse and Kew gardens 50p) I am finding very few olympic fifty pences in my change but I hardly see 50p's or £2 coins in my day to day...

I've got 20 now, struggling to get different ones now. Got a question though, How come there isn't a gold collection of Olympic coins? I would have thought that would have been quite popular (but quite expensive) with the Olympic being all about going for gold.

29 gold coins?! Who would have the money for it! I suppose they could offer each athlete their own sport in gold...but you know, Gold isn't cheap!
