06 is the only half dollar reverse I like, 05 isn't bad though.

I like the silver reverse 05 with 04 being my 2nd choice. 04 for the obverse with 05 second choice

I like the gold reverse designs a lot. I LOVE the 09 but thing 05 06 and 10 probably represent the war better. If they pick 09 though itll be the first gold coin I ever purch ASE

There are some very pretty and impressive designs there.

As a military brat, I can appreciate them all.

Thank you all for your service

I LOVE the eagles ones. Just curious, does anyone here know how to submit a design for a coin?

I like most of these designs, but I hope they don't choose the 5th obverse for Douglas MacArthur, it makes him look like a dictator of some third world country, as for the reverse, I do like the 5th design. For the dollar, my favorite obverse is number 6, and my favorite reverse is number 4. and for the half dollar, I prefer number 5 for the obverse, and number 6 is my favorrite reverse.

I'm not crazy about the sunglasses on Macarthur. Love lady liberty with the foot on the helmet.

All the Half Dollar Reverse Candidates seem kinda busy, but agree 06 is the best. 5 star generals certainly a cool idea!

Just like in the past, when a committee sits down to decide the final designs, they will pick the ugly or marginal ones. The same thing happen when they selected the Shield Cents. They had a couple of really cool designs like the one with the eagle and they went with a stupid shield.

Agree with thad and if you look at what they recommended there were certainly far better design combinations

I would go with Halsey or Nimitz paired up with the carrier reverse. It deserves an admiral not a general.

For the $5 gold coin, I like 02 for the obverse, and I just about drooled when I saw 09 for the reverse. If they make that coin, I will NEED to buy it. It is an incredibly powerful design, and isn't overwhelming like a good bit of the choices.

For the silver dollar I would choose O-08 and R-04

For the half, I would choose O-01 and R-06, although I think the eagle has a little too much going on. I'm not a real fan of any of the reverses.

For the $5 gold, I agree with the CFA's choice of 02 for the obverse, but prefer 09 for the reverse. One reason is because their choice looks too similar to the recent obverse of the 2012 Infantry Soldier silver dollar.

For the silver dollar, I like 06 for the obverse (with the striped background) because it seems well balanced and has a nice look and feel. For the reverse, I would go with 02, which shows the WWII Victory Medal draped over a map of Europe. I'll bet a lot of veterans would like this one, too.

For the half dollar, I would go with the selections of the CFA... they collectively would make for a nice-looking coin!

I didnt even think about it but shoe is right, the gold reverse is basically a ripoff of the infantry dollar

Pretty interesting designs. Hopefully they will announce which one they picked, soon.

In the article the CFA recommendations had already been made and it is highly unlikely that the Mint will opt for any of the other designs submitted. The $5 is obverse #2 with reverse #2, the $1 is obverse #8 with reverse #4, and the half dollar is obverse #6 with reverse #7.

MacArthur did not deserve to be placed on the $5.00 coin alone, that honor should have gone to George C.Marshall who was the first 4 star General and was the General of the Army during WWII. All of the other five star Generals were subordinate to him.

I don't know why they couldn't have made a set of nine coins of each denomination, one for each of the 5 star Generals plus another four for the four 5 star Fleet Admirals of WWII. Those being William D. Leahy, Ernest J. King, Chester W. Nimitz, and William F. Halsey, Junior.
