Wow it is easy to get carried away on ebay isn't it? I only intended to buy a couple of pieces but before I new it I was making an offer on a 1928 $1 red seal funnyback (which was accepted, yay!) That was after I had decided that there were not many of them on ebay and the prices seemed quite high so I had purchased a Bradbury £1 treasury note instead. I think it is always a bit of a gamble buying ungraded notes from a picture but I am hoping when they arrive they will all be in better than expected condition. The black eagle and the Bradbury I am taking a chance that I will be happy with condition because the prices were ok I think... Anyway here are the pictures of my notes...I will let you know what I think when they arrive :) I guess the kids will have to go without shoes now (joke) but have any of you found yourself like a kid in a sweetshop when you search through ebay?

I'm quickly finding out that I'm having the same "problem" as you. I've been on spending spree as far as coins have been concerned. I keep finding good deals that I can't pass up.

Since downloading a sniper program a few moths ago I have gone hog wild snatching up average circulated Large Cents in the $5-$10 range as well as large lots (3+ rolls)of Buffalo's and IHC's for well below grey sheet per coin. I have even managed to score 7 Morgan's and Peace dollars for around $20 each.

I think they wait till the last seconds to bid for you...which would save you waiting up for the aution to expire.
In a couple of cases I have been repeatedly outbid on an item and dropped out on it...only to find the same or similar item about to finish. Rather than bid on it ahead of time I have just put in my maximum bid that I am prepared to spend and waited till the last 30 seconds. Each time it has cost me much less than my maximum and I have won the item.
I will ease off the buying now though till I receive my items... and the next purchases I make I think I will make some lists of wanted items and post them here. Maybe someone can do me a job lot on 5-6 items and save me on postage, pressumably some dealers keep an eye on this site.

I often feel like a kid in a candy shop when I'm in coin shops and the price is right. My last dealer was selling 90% under the melt value, but I didn't have enough cash on hand to buy everything.

I received the Bradbury note today (since it came from England it arrived much faster that the US notes which were ordered previously)
The creases were a little worse than I expected and when placed next to my Fisher Treasury note it did appear a little scruffy in comparison but I recognised there was an element of gamble in this purchase.
A little disapointing but the note is still OK as a filler (and I still believe it to be worth what I paid) the annoying thing is I saw the seller selling one in much better grade for only a little more money, I would have been better to go with that one. I also saw Bradbury and Fisher 10 shilling notes for sale from that seller for apperently competative prices but I guess they are similar condition to the £1. I think I will save my cash and try and purchase them at a show where I can insspect the produce first.
The other notes are in transit and I believe I will have better luck with those will review them when they arrive...

I know they exist but have never used one myself have always just done my browsing on my own I think it works great. I only have about 4 hours out of a normal day that I can browse the bay and look for stuff. I was putting bids at around fair market value less shipping costs and almost always getting out bid. So I down loaded a sniper and plug in a max bet amount and it will cover me during working hours and sleep time. I now win around 50% of the auctions I bid on and all are far below FMV and most below Grey Sheet. Great deals to be had on a lot of items ending between 2am and 4am PST especially.

Tim ill have to look into this for sure. I've definitely been a victim of that last 2nd bidding that couldnt have possibly been a person making the first bid with half a second left. Id love ones of those if for nothing else to even the playing field.

I use EZSniper. Very reasonably priced and quite effective. Don't kid yourself. ebay is NOT an auction. It's a timed auction and that's a big difference. Last second bids rule! Don't feel bad, though. If the other bidder wanted it more than you they would have bid more and won. What snipering prevents is what I call getting nibbled to death. It happened to me on a $100 stamp I wanted. I had to leave town so I placed my bid of $96 before getting on the plane. There was only ONE other bidder above $80 and he kept bidding a few dollars more each time. Each time he bid my bid trumped him and he came back with a higher bid. Obviously he didn't really know what that stamp was really worth and if I were to sniper at the end I would have likely gotten the stamp for $80 or so. I've been a fan of sniper programs ever since. Gotta go now, off to sniper a '68 to '98 Proof Run! 56 seconds left...
