Hi All,

I'll be going to Canada late August beginning of September. And just wanted to see if any Canadian Penny sorters could let me know how things are going right now.

Is it more difficult to order penny boxes, finding skunk boxes yet, etc. etc.?

I'm thinking I'll try and pick-up around 10 or more boxes if possible when I'm up there.

Thanks,
~JobIII

I'm not from Canada, but I don't think what's happening now will really give you an accurate feel for what's happening in September when the Cut-off starts.

If you know people in the area you'll be going, I'd suggest asking them to order you coin now so you don't get turned away later. Just my 2 cents.

Hello.
Pennies are still running rampant up here. I'm sure they will be for a while. I order 4 boxes a week from my local bank. No issues. Lots of copper still since our copper is up to the year 1996. I get machine rolls and customer rolls and still find George pennies, wheats, and early Elizabeth.

I'm sure there will be lots left. Have fun when you are up here.
I'll be headed to wash/Idaho next month. I'll be looking for halves when I'm down there

If you call banks in that area the week before you get there. You could place an order for a couple boxes, pick them up while you're in the states.

Yeah, you pretty much have to order half dollars.

Are there still some silver ones being found by ordering? Or is it best to just walk in and ask if they have any brought in by customers?

The market is still using pennies, although some merchants are simply rounding down to the nearest nickel. I always feel gyped getting back a nickel instead of 4 pennies.

I haven't found any silver by ordering. They're 500 dollar boxes.

I haven't found any silver in customer wrapped rolls. So it's random luck with both a $500 box and what customers bring in.

I'm bummed out about the whole Canadian penny thing. I have a lot more to find still. There are probably millions of dollars worth floating around in the US, but will slowly die off...

Not sure if I misunderstood the flow of the conversation. So I apologize in advance if this doesn't make sense. For pennies you should be fine. They are 25 a case and I'm sure there will be lots to go around. I saw someone write about half dollars? I'm not sure you can still get them through ordering via a bank...but even if you can, it will be tough to find silver as in Canada silver halves and dollars are larger than their non silver counterpart. If there are any canadians with differing opinions please share as I'd love to get into silver hunting 50 cent coins...I'm jealous of our southern friends who find silver via that denomination.
