Just arrived in the mail today, Looks polished in hand way different than the auction pics. Your thoughts?

Absolutely cleaned. The grade appears to be VF-35 details. Indian's leg is pretty flat.

Yep that has been polished down a lot. It's a great coin.

That's a fairly brutal cleaning. I'd send it back.

Id say the chance of that coin being that worn and that shiny uncleaned is about the same chance that I have of winning the lottery

Quote: Its going back, getting a one nice has been tough! If your looking for a raw one you could always look through the slabbed ones, not all of them are real expensive, and just break it out of the slab so you know youre getting what you want

Ouch indeed ... this coin has been stripped of numismatic value by the obvious brutal cleaning. with a return. These are not that tough to find in honestly circulated condition with original surfaces ... especially the 1926 year issue. Keep on searching ... I'm certain with time you will come across the right one for you. I would enjoy seeing photos when you find it. David

It appears that this one might have been "Whizzed" to give a false sense of luster -- likely after it was harshly cleaned.

If you didn't over pay you could always use it for a pocketpiece.

That's a good question CoinsKelly, in that case there hundreds of folks on ebay selling cleaned/polished examples. Shame on them...

Good luck with finding a better one. It shouldn't be too hard. A slabbed one might be bought for one close to a price that isn't slabbed. Give it a try.

If you don't mind divulging your source for this coin, that way we could avoid them like the plague! It reminds me of a Great Southern coin, looks great with the lighting, but it looks terrible when in hand. Did I mention that I got banned from bidding on their coins on ebay?
