Just picked this piece up from a dealer friend of mine. We both looked this coin over well and both agreed on a grade and price according to that grade. I've tried different lighting combinations in the photo to best duplicate what the color of the coin actually is. Ended up using a 100 watt clear bulb combined with a daylight energy saver. My photo skills aren't the best so hope this works. What do you guys think this one grades? Here's a couple more photos using a black background. Edited by IndianGoldEagle 07/11/2012 4:41 pm

Details pretty sharp, but can't tell the surface from pictures, so I am guessing that MS-63RB!

MS-63 RB because there looks like there are some marks on the cheek in the second set of pictures.

Your photography zooms up very well. I wish mine were that good. I could never get the clarity like that on my zoom-ups. I'm also terrible at lighti-oh, you were saying? Oh yes, my verdict. A couple faint spots on the obverse, a carbon spot the size of a pinhead, center of reverse. If she's not at least a MS64RB, I don't know what is. Delicious!

The dealer and I agreed this one should go as AU-58 details. At first glance I thought it was a nice 64 red. Under 16x magnification hairlines are visible on both sides which don't seem to show up in the photos. There is also mild wear on parts of the hair, cheek, feathers, wreath. The coin has been cleaned or processed some how to give it a BU appearance hiding the wear, the color is excellent. It is a very deceptive coin that most likely was sold in the past as uncirculated. The dealer is an honest man and did not try to sell this one to me as BU.

I would have gone with MS63 or 64 without an argument. Surfaces look original from here, good reprocessing skills by someone. Thanks for posting, I guess I'll never buy a raw red IHC.

I would not be shocked if that got put into a problem free slab. Quote: Under 16x magnification hairlines are visible I dont think a TPG would look that closely...if it looked good under 10x....
