I don't have a clue what the 2011D is worth. I was offered $150 for it, and I took it. There's roughly $190 worth of gold in the 1/4 eagle.
I don't collect errors, but I do enjoy finding them. Finding this one gives me a start on the gold page for my 7070.

I'd say that was a fair trade. You might have been able to do a little better since it is a rare date (so far), but you still did very well. Thats a great error!

Trust me, I weighed the option of sitting on this one for awhile. When it came back with a 66 grade, I figured I might have something worth holding onto. Then again, "what-if" a few hundred more of these are found in the next couple of years? It'll surely bring the price down some. The "newness" of it is both a blessing and a curse imho. I type all this while looking at 1/2 a box of unopened bank-wrapped rolls of 2011D's sitting beside my desk. Knowing myself as well as I do, I'll probably spend some time this weekend cracking them all open.

The ghost of BiggFredd just asked me: "How could it be slobbed "RD" when it has no copper plating?"

Nice trade for now, but a gut feeling says that the slabbed zinc penny should have been kept. You can always buy gold.
