I owe lots of Byzantine coins, but non in gold. Masis gold is 100% legit.

More new "Offical" rules ... *whateva*
Rule #72 => you "cannot" vote for your own coin!
Rule #008 => there will be a known voting score-knowledge, because hopefully everybody will cast a vote ... ummmm, so I guess a tally "could" be created if that's what the contestants desire (in other words, I "could" easily create a list of contestants and merely post how many votes each contestant received) ... however, this may stop future contestants from entering one of their coins ...
=> oh Christ (that's Byzantine slang for "relax, Jesus would want us to have some fun") ... it's a "for fun" competition ...
=> but I could certainly post a gold, silver, bronze (potin) rating if that's what the masses decide ...

Friendly Reminder => the Byzantine SMACKDOWN deadline is tonight at 9:22pm (Manitoba Time) NOTE => then there will be a 24 hour voting period where everybody will vote for Masis' stupid coin ... then tomorrow night, the next SMACKDOWN event will be listed!! Curious => does this seem like "good times", or a bad idea? Please give me feedback on the SMACKDOWN event/format so far (thanks)

It's been slow around here lately, so this is a good idea.

It would be nice if you could extend the deadline until Monday night. Not only giving me a chance to enter the two Byzantines on the way if they arrive. Also, more time for others to find the thread.
If not, that's fine. Maybe next time. :)

I hear your pain, Gil-galad => but I'm thinking that there are "soooooo many/countless" categories for SMACKDOWN, that I'd rather get it rolling ...
Please don't judge me, brother

I'll tell ya what, Gil-galad => when your coins arrive, if you can pull a coin outta thin-air that beats Masis' nuclear gold coin, then I'll give you an honarary Byzantine trophy!! (deal?)
=> only 3 more hours, and counting ...

Perhaps the answer to the gold trumps all entries is to be a bit more restrictive when selecting categories. For example, this could have been Byzantine Bronzes or Byzantine coins costing under $100. However the fact remains that any competition will have winners and losers so maybe the better idea would be to have a topic exhibition with the postings graded on how well they match the topic.
I once participated in a contest format where the winner was required to announce the next topic but was not allowed to succeed himself as winner. Contests only last as long as a majority of participants believe they have even a slight chance of finishing at least close to the top.

I haven't posted my only byzantine coin (the one I just recently posted from the bargain box), mainly because I didn't see a category for the WORST coin, which I'm sure I would be in the running for, but I have been following this contest. When we vote is it the one we like the best or the one in the best condition and most expensive. I tend to like bronze coins so I may not automatically vote for a gold coin. I guess trial and error on a contest post like this will tell you something for the next one.

dougsmit => excellent ideas ... oh, and I definitely agree that at some point it may be a great idea to have the winner choose the next category, but until this SMACKDOWN thingy gets rolling, I'm not lending the keys to the family car to just anybody!! so please be a bit patient ... I'm gonna do a few test-spins around the block before I hand the wheel over to Willie Nillie!! 35 minutes to go ... NOTE => I think my wife wants me to hang-out with her, so I may not actually be around at 9:22pm "sharp" ... => but please start the Voting at 9:22pm whether I'm on-line or not, okay? ... good luck, comrades!!

oh, and "who" gets to vote?
a) anybody that wanders into the forum during the 24 hour voting period
b) only contestants who have enetered a coin into the competion?

On page 1 of this thread I made the following statement, so we will go with the following ruling, for now: Quote: => SMACKDOWN #1 => "BEST BYZANTINE COIN" (voted by on-lookers) ... so "all on-lookers" can cast a vote!!
