stevex6's vote:
Gold Medal => Masis' Nuclear gold coin
Silver Medal => dougsmit's 2nd coin
Bronze Medal => jessvc1's Justinian the great
Note => but honourable mention definitely goes to echizento's token that was made from the actual cross of Jesus!! (but man, the specimen kind of lacked the eye-appeal to wow a podium finish) ... sorry Dude ...

I like the smackdown idea. Most of my coins are still entry level, but if every now and again there is one geared towards mediocre specimens then I can do more than just lurk and salivate.

Grats Masis, Doug and Jessvc1! Nice coins all around, but that gold one is definitely top shelf.

Yup, that's me hangin' on for dear life, Jerry. Sorry, but I can't derail Masis' coin. It is by far and away the nicest coin of the lot. Second to that Jerry, is your coin. If we could just remove Masis' coin, we could make you number one. But as is, you are Number Two:

My apologies for entering IMHO the copper and bronze coins, of quality, are the harder to find than the gold. The silver are rarely seen. So in all fairness, really the marks should go to the scarcity and quality of the coin than the value of the metal.

Gold: The Gold one...it's just so shiny Silver: Eng's anonymous - like mine but much better Bronze: Stevex6's Justinian - Dunno why, it speaks to me
There weren't any that I didn't like, it was great seeing all the submissions. I especially like the token though. Never heard of them before, but now I am on the hunt.

I'll vote as follows:
Gold: echizento
Not because of what metal it was made out of or condition. Both are poor, to be honest. Although, not really religious but I do understand the symbolism behind the coin if the story is true. Which is worth more than money.
Silver: Masis
This coin has got to be the best gold Byzantine I've ever seen style wise. I really like the design of the coin. I don't know much about it otherwise.
Bronze: stevex6
This is a really nice bronze Follis of Justinian I. Everything is clear, facial portrait details and the legends on both sides of the coin.
Honorable mention goes to Dougsmit for a really nice but unusual overstruck coin. As well as the silver coin of John VIII.

My #1 is echizento's lump of clay. It is not bad considering it is not gold. #2 is the gold but that is mostly because Beast is a friend and I'm happy to see someone is sending him big bucks. #3 would have been stevex6's top train but it is a fake shot from a model unless I miss my guess so I'll fall back to eng's Anastasius which will be overlooked by most because the two sides were posted on different pages.
I hope the next topic is something that does not come in gold.

I don't understand what you mean about stevex6's coin being a fake shot from a model. What does that mean? Is the coin fake or the photo isn't right according to in-hand?
