CONGRATS! Awesome to hear about your completion!

I, personally would love to own a 55/55, although if I did , I wouldn't consider it "part of my set". In my opinion errors/varieties are fun to collect, but I don't take it as serious as my set, I am a purist in the sense of Lincoln synergy LOL.

With that said, I think you should continue to upgrade the Lincoln's... but maybe just secure the IHC keys before you start.

Guess it depends on how passionate you are about one vs. the other...

Ok I'll say it once more...

Congratulations on your accomplishment! It's a great feeling to complete a set and taking a quarter century to to it.

Mine is almost complete.... just missing 4 key dates and I'll be done. (09S, 09s VBD, 14D, 31S)

Congratulations on the completion of you Lincoln set.

I just have the 1922 no D, but I am not actively pursuing that purchase .. if one comes along I may consider buying it.

As for the errors, I think your set is complete .. when you think it is.

As for buying the keys first I understand that going that route makes it easier to complete the set. I would like to add another line of thought. In most cases the best deal you can make on a coin is when you purchase that coin. It is easy to over pay for a coin that you really like and really want.

What I am getting at .. is .. buying the keys first is a good idea .. but only if it is a good deal .. I think knowing what a good deal is, on all the coins you are wanting, and buy the good deals first. Have the funds ready for the keys .. and be ready when you find the right coin at the right price.

Spider, congrats on the milestone. I would not beat yourself up or feel pressured to add any error coins to have a complete set. You've got the complete set! Seeing as the Lincoln Cent is the quintessential collection and most folks entre into US coins, that's quite an achievement with a lot of meaning behind it.

I'd go for keys first, too, for any new set.

Congrats on completing the Lincoln Cent collection!

That is a huge milestone!

I still have the 14-D and 09-S VDB to buy, some day, maybe.

And I agree, that you should go for the keys first, since they'll almost always go up in value, in the near future. The other coins, can easily be found and bought, at any time. I wish I bought the keys first, for my Lincoln Cent collection.

And I think you should start work on your IHC next, since you will always be wanting to upgrade one coin or another in your Lincoln Cent collection.

CONGRATS!

Bah, don't worry about the errors/varieties. To me "complete" is all dates/MM's, the other stuff is icing on the cake.

Congratulations on the accomplishment! I would say to start on the IHC set and knock out the keys/semi-keys first as they are likely to go higher in value quickly compared to the rest. Complete to me is also all dates/MM's, and I hope to be able to say I have a complete set of something eventually.

I'm with Bad Thad...if you think you need to 55 DDO to complete the set...there are hundreds if not thousands of other doubled dies you would need to include...

You could try to get RDV's...those were minted not as errors..the 92 would be the difficult one I imagine...

my adviced about key coin collecting- save up for them as if you are going to buy them first- and then once you have the money to buy them at the grade you desire... be patient and wait for the right coin. If that coin doesn't come along right away- keep diverting a little money to that fund and wait until the coin you likes becomes available. if you excersise patience- you will get a better coin. but yes, focus on buying them early.
