I just picked this up for my 7070. What do you think PCGS thought about this one? I only need a reeded edge Bust Half to complete the 7070 Half Dollars. Thanks! (sellers images) Edited by oih82w8 07/16/2012 9:16 pm

I'd guess 25 or so. Can't imagine a reason they wouldn't grade it. Looks nice to me!

I think they graded it a VF-25. Nice addition!

Very nice circulated look. with VF-25 and think it could go 30 on a good day.

PCGS probably called it cleaned - but I think it's a great coin! Nice addition, have fun cracking it out of it's TPG prison!

I don't even know why I bother to play the "guess the grade" game with you guys...yes I do, because it's fun! ...and you guys are usually right! Perhaps I should have asked for attribution for a more challenging post. I was trying to do some research on my new half and found it on the PCGS Coinfacts website. I guess you could say that it's famous! Mine is the one on the right. http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/CoinDe...aspx?s=39911 Slight die rotation

No, Al C. Overton is the Subject Matter Expert who identified the varieties of early Half Dollars. "...the standard reference book for varieties of half dollars minted from 1794 through 1836 is Early Half Dollar Die Varieties by Al C. Overton. It shows a whopping 450 plus varieties for the capped bust half series alone, which runs from 1807 through 1836."http://www.alaskacoinexchange.com/A...arieties.htm

Man, I love this coin! I'm testing myself to see if I'm correct on this since I'm fairly new to the hobby. On ebay there is an 1834 Capped Bust half dollar (Item # 251107236149) that I think has been cleaned at some point. There is no mention of this in the description. Can you guys tell me if I'm right? Thanks!

Nice coin, has all the right diagnostics for the 107. Star 1 points right to the middle of a dentil, liberty's upper lip is full and bigger. And on the reverse, the "5" in 50 C. is tilted slight left and higher than the zero. Nice example for the old 7070!
