I just picked up coin collecting again but have decided to narrow what I buy and collect. I will be collecting silver state and national park quarter proofs, all commemoratives, and silver eagle proofs. I was wondering if I would be able to find all of these at the upcoming SOCAL coin, jewelry, and currency show. I'm mostly if I would be able to find the Silver Washington State Quarter Proofs. Thanks.

The items you are looking for are available at most of the coin shows that I have been to. Larger shows will have a greater array of dealers as well as offerings. Never pay full retail and always ask what they would be willing to seel it to you for. If you don't ask, you will always pay retail. Most will also provide a better discount if you are going to purchase more than one item. Good luck!

Most of the proof coins you have listed are fairly common and should be available at a coin show unless the show is for high end rarities as these are not. I too enjoy the modern proof coins and have the sets you have listed. Good luck on your acquisitions. You may even want to get the full silver proof sets including the silver Kennedy half and the silver Roosevelt dime in addition to your quarters.

to the Community! I moved your topic to the main forum for a wider appeal, since the forum you had this in is typically used to announce shows.

The Silver eagles should be very easy to find, same with the State Quarters in proof sets. At least around me a lot of the dealers dont really deal in commems so those may be the hardest to find in person. The good news is they are pretty easy to find for the most part online. If you are looking for them raw provident metals has a large selection as does ebay but I dont like buying raw on ebay personally.

Naturally the larger the coin show, the more different types of everything you'll find. At some of the larger ones I've gone to I've seen Indian Artifacts, jewlery, knives, stamps, currency and oh yes, coins. One nice thing about coin shows is you can get to talk to dealers and ask for certain items. Some of those dealers may have a coin store in the area so always ask.

I find that in general the larger the show the greater the expense for the dealer and the less likely are to bring lower value items. Also the further a dealer has to travel to get to a show the less low value material they will carry.

Thanks. The items you seek should be easy to find at most coin shows. If by commemoratives you are referring to the modern issues, they are usually easy to find. The classic commemorative series is a bit tougher and more expensive. Most modern commemorative dollars sell for close to their bullion value. Before you go to a show, inform yourself of what the going prices are for the coins you want. Never be afraid to ask for a discount, especially if buying multiple items from the same dealer. A simple "Is that your best price?" will generally garner at least a small discount.
