This coin is from my own collection. I bought it about 6 years ago, before I knew there was a difference in TPG's. This is in a PCI slab, graded MS64. There is a bag mark right below the eye on the obverse, and a couple more around the arrow heads on the reverse. The dark spots on the obverse where the face meets the neck is where the "frost" is scratched, if that makes any sense. The scratches are on the slab, not the coin. Maybe one day I'll figure out how to take an accurate picture. Any experts out there want to give an opinion?

Your pics are plenty good enough for me to see that the coin is accurately graded. I've seen far worse in a PCGS MS64 slab. Does your PCI slab have green or gold, trim? Earlier PCI efforts (the green ones, although there's two generations of them, too) are better-graded than the newer, gold ones.

That's actually a very nice 64, especially that frosty. A definite keeper.

Nice looking Morgan. I have no quarrel with PCI's grading on this one.

This PCI slab has the green trim. Glad to hear ya'll think it's a 64. I can tell with a reasonable amount of accuracy the difference between G & F, but when it gets above MS-60 I'm lost. Funny you should mention the PCGS slabs, I've got a 1921 Morgan in one of the old green slabs thats graded MS64 also. It's not as frosty, and has a very distracting black spot (carbon?) in the hair to the right of the ear. I was going to post pictures of it soon because I would like to know what ya'll think about the spot.

I'll tell you what - if you can come up with a 1921 Morgan that displays the frost of this 1880, you can just about set your own price for it. Not even the (unauthorized) Proofs of the 1921's had much frost.

My inlaws are in town for the next 2 weeks, but I will post some pictures of the 1921 Morgan when I get a chance. It looks pretty nice except for the small black dot, and it has some frost, just nowhere near as much as the 1880.
