Grade opinions and a question for Dave on His gallery photo's

Dave this coin exhibits the same chacteristics as the first series of pics in your VAM gallery,, only slightly earlier as far as die state,, where your coin shows a chip missing on the M of america this coin still has that piece intact but surrounded by die cracks.

would this be the same VAM # and if it would what is that number ?

Im also sorry for the quality of the pics ,the coin is in a PCI slab.and did not photo that well through the plastic.

Either 1L or 1AR. The easiest way to tell is the crack between the IC of AMERICA. If the crack has an upward (towards the rim) curve, and begins on the serif of the I, it's a 1L. If the crack is straight, and begins just below the serif of the I, it's a 1AR. The obverses are nearly identical.

My guess is yours is 1L, based on what I see of the crack between the A and the wing, which develops earlier and gets stronger than the 1AR. I've had a few of both, so I'm familiar with the crack progression.

Tough to make the AU/UNC call, Metalman, but I could get behind MS63 if it's Mint State. The VAM is a relatively common one, and unlikely worth a premium except in extremely late die state versions.

Here's one that I have on ebay right now, with a little extra - what seems to be a planchet defect just above OF that looks just like it belongs as part of the VAM:

1921-D-Morgan

Even an LDS coin like this probably won't exceed $30 in this grade.

Thanks for the info Dave ,,this one will more than likely end up out of the slab and in my collection ,,so value is not a critical aspect of owning it.
