Have had this silver 1 lb (imperial) coin sitting around for several years and I am wondering what it is. I have found silver eagles online, however they all have the "walking liberty" on them. Is this a different version or something I have here? Thanks! *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

to CCF. What you have is not a real coin but a bullion piece representing the Morgan silver dollar. Is there any writing on the edge? John1

Thanks for the kind welcome. No, it does not have any writing on the edge. I am assuming the value would be the same as a coin, or no?

Only worth the weight of the bullion it contains. On the plus side, yours is stamped .999 fine.
But, is it plated with silver or solid silver?

To get the value, you have to weigh the coin. Today's silver spot value is about $27 an ounce. If you're looking to sell it, most buyers are paying a little under spot.

I mentioned in the original post that it is 1 imperial Lb, so about 14.5 troy ounces. I have no idea if it is stamped, but wouldn't .999 mean that its solid?

Usually, but it would depend on what company made it and stamped the .999 on it. Most companies that make rounds like that stamp the company name on it somewhere.

Quote: but wouldn't .999 mean that its solid? That would mean that the silver on it is about as pure as its gets but doesn't mean its either plated or solid on its own.

I noticed the "mint mark" is a G...only thing I found with a google search is a "Gallipolli dollar", and that doesn't seem right. Unfortunately I received this as a gift many years ago so I'm not sure its origin.

What you have looks similar to this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SILVER-BULL..._1103wt_1392Only differences seem to be slightly different Lady Liberty model, the date, and the weight of the round on the one for sale on ebay. I would imagine that there were quite a few rounds of this type produced by various mints.

This is always confusing to me.... Copy an paste below form typical reference site on troy weight.... "There are 14.58333333 troy ounces in a pound." Here is a another copy an paste on a TROY POUND.... 1 pound [troy] = 13.165 714 286 ounce The ebay world seems to thinks it weighs 12 troy oz., as the final sell price of the listing from July 20th Ed provided above was 384 with shipping which divided by 12 you get 32 bucks per oz.. Notice when silver is at 27 bucks ebay ALWAYZ figures most typical average silver worth FIVE more bucks per oz. then spot price, hence 32 per oz....
