At the risk of repition and driving all of the long-standing members up the wall - here my the list of decimal variations, gleaned from noodling and reading posts on this site. I only collect 20, 50 and dollars.

Twenty Cents
1966 - wave
1966 - gap in swirl (according to an old post on this forum)
1981 - claw - look for the wave based letters for confirmation
1981 - a dot above the r in Australia
2001 - rotated
2004 - pointy A
2007 - thick or thin 7 - thanks Nancy
2008 - gap in swirl
2010 - bubble

Fifty cents
1970 - angled 7
1979 - double bar
1980 - double bar
1994 - wide date
2000 - incused
2004 - pointy A
2010 - rotated

Dollar
2000 - mule
2001 - rotated
various - rabbit ears (not a variation - but can't help looking for them)

Hi nancy. I cannot find any reference to the 2007 Twenty Cent thick and thin seven. Which one is common? What am I looking for?

Okay. With a steady hand and magnifier I looked and of 34 of my 2007 twenties, I found 17 thick and 17 thin ones.

Great summary and very helpful. Many thanks for that. But does the 2004 50 cent coin also have a pointy A variety?

From what I have read elsewhere on the forum, the 2004 Pointy A 50c only exists in mint sets, so the chance of finding one while noodling, would be the same as the chance of finding any other MSO coin (very, very small).

Maccas reckons the pointy A's are only to be found in the proof and mint sets, none in general circ. Mine is from a proof set.

Not sure on the percentage of 50 cent pointy/flat A's in these sets though
