I look closely and notice that it's the rare large date medium letter. Nothing special in the listing. I put in a $90 snipe bid just in case someone else notices. All week it sits at something like $5 and then shoots over $20 this morning. Figure I'll still get a bargain. Take a look at what it closed at:

I'd rather pay more money for a non pitted one than get that one, even for $90. Patience, patience, patience.

Yes, it was definitely not problem free! Very scarce coin, but I would have never thought it would go over $200. $150 maybe, but not $200.

219.50 was a pretty healthy bid for a coin in that shape.

He has a lot of items with good pictures that makes it easy for cherrypickers to skim through. I'm not surprised that it was seen by others.

That seller has a sizable cadre of repeat customers and posts clear images. Not surprised this N-5 went top-of-market; none of this guy's stuff falls through the cracks.

As long as you realize that a piece in the same grade but without the pitting would probably be pushing around $1000. Most of these seem to come with problems and when you consider that there are only about 40 of these known in ANY condition sometimes you either have to take what you can get or do without.

40 known? That's going to take a lot of patience (or cash).

I'm not a "hole filler", coin wise that is, so yeah I would wait for a G, VG or F and if it cost 4x the one just sold, then so be it. To have one looking like that, one that just doesn't have honest wear, to say I have one, no I'll wait. I do acknowledge that 11 people think differently than I do.
