Yesterday I spent $450 on buying 2500 bulk half pennies or 18c each. I thought this was a bit high but decided to take the gamble and try and pick up a few scarce dates. I tipped all the coins out of the bag onto a towel on my desk and these are the first two coins I noticed Im sure my heart stopped for a few seconds. The 1936 hasnt photographed very well. It looks quite dull but in hand its a beauty. I also ran out of 2x2s until tomorrow so decided to leave them in the holders for the photos. Also in the bag was 6x1915, 3x1939 Roos and lots of gVF-gEF KGV coins. Over 500 KGV coins is much better than I thought. I didnt think there were too many unsearched lots out there but obviously there still is. Now I have the huge task of selling all the coins on ebay. I'm not sure whether or not to sell these two. I dont really need the money but it would be nice. What would you guys do? Edited by enworb 07/30/2012 01:21 am

Good one,in the early days of ebay in Oz. you could get a few key dates out of "unsorted lots" but its rare the last few years IME.I spent $40 recently and was conned, the trouble is the postage is so high its not worth returning them. Google has changed everything, anyone capable of listing on ebay is capable of spending 5 mins. to suss out the scarce dates.

Enworb if you do not need the money, I think you should stick into them. An uncirculated Victoria old head halfcrown I bought from ebay back in 2005 is now about six times its value. Not only right coins are nice investments, they're also lovely to keep.

Nice! Very nice! I think I have Penny envy When you get them sorted I would be happy to buy some of the ones you do not want.

Were they from an ebay seller? Maybe some "unsorted", bulk lots actually are.! Strange, but true.

No they were purchased from a coin retailer in Adelaide.

There are lots of 1928, 29, 30 and 1931 coins in the VF-EF range. Also the 6x VG 1915 coins. A few 1924 and about 10x 1918 from VG-gF. I have picked out what I want so the rest is for sale. Most will go in bulk lots on ebay but if people message me dates and rough grades I'm happy to help out CCF members for real cheap prices. I could even put togethwr an entire set I suppose. The rest of the better stuff will go on ebay in small groups or individually.

God...darn...you lucky mother...noodler! Keep the 1911 & 1936, if it hasn't cost anything, they'll be great investment pieces & they are very pretty, lovely colour...I'm more than jealous...also, sell the rest, you'll probably make your money back & then some whilst still keeping the beauties.

Thanks goatie. I think the 1915s, 1939 roos and the bulk lots should give me back most of the money I spent. I'll keep the higher grade KGV and I'm 95% sure i'll keep these two.
